Neglect

Yeah, I've been completely neglecting this blog. It's not that I haven't had ideas to blog about, it's more that I haven't felt like any of those ideas are worthwhile.

I'm tiring of blogging about what's been going on and just posting pictures of my super cute kids.

Before everyone and their grandparents were on facebook, this blog was an easy way to show my friends & family what I've been up to, but now they can just facebook stalk me or instagram stalk me or twitter stalk me and see that in real time or close to it. I'd rather write something a little more entertaining.

The problem is, I've been uninspired.

I don't think I'm going to change the world or become some sort of internet comedian or make it as a mommy blogger or anything. I just want to write something... else?

Since I'm uninspired, I'll just give an update with pictures of what's been going on:

Simon got glasses.
Jonas wants glasses (and will wear his sunglasses around the house).
We had about a week of sick kids.
We cleaned up lots of gumballs from our yard.
There are still lots of gumballs in our yard.
Simon turned 5.
I made him a bug cake & we celebrated with our church community group.
We also made a trip to Kings Island to celebrate again with family.
Chase has been playing music.
I went to a concert at a basement venue where I saw Lucius and Tall Tall Trees.
I hula hooped with a friend between sets because a hoola hoop enthusiast hangs out at the house where we saw the concert.
Chase bought me a Lucius shirt.
I waited too long to change Charzie's diaper & pee got on that shirt.
I'm working on Charlotte's 2nd birthday party.
It's Yo Gabba Gabba! themed.

Now pictures:
Simon showed me bugs in a book & I put them on his cake

Spectacled Sime blowing out his candle

Simon at Kings Island with his funnel cake

My grandpa poking a kosmoceratops with his cane at Kings Island

Simon & Jonas showing some dino-love at Kings Island
This one is almost 2!

The Tick

So this morning I got out of the shower and found a tick on my thigh!  I never had a tick before, and if you haven't had one, I don't recommend it.  It didn't hurt (well, it hurt slightly when Chase was killing it), but it was gross.  I had to have Chase remove it for me because (a) I couldn't really get to it myself, (b) I don't know how to remove ticks, and (c) it grossed me out too much.  Thankfully, my husband saved me from Lyme disease.

In other news, I had my 6 week post baby checkup this morning.  It'll be nice not to have any doctors up in my business for a year, that is unless another R2 comes along before then...  (Hopefully we'll have a bit of a break before that happens, but if it does, it does.)

Quick Post

No baby yet.  It's still anytime...

We've been living at our new place for a week now.  We have a lot unpacked, but there's still quite a bit to go.  People have been asking, "Is the baby's room ready?" for about three months now, and I think I can finally say, "Yup."

I'm not working anymore (for now) and am trying to rest up and get stuff put away.  I do have some bad news though; the wasps have found me at our new place and started taunting me again today...

Wasp Gang: The Sequel

The wasps are back and out to get me... again. Not thinking, I left my windows down when I went home for lunch. When I opened my car door to head back to work, one flew right at me from inside the car! I squealed (of course), then it just sort of hovered around my door. I'm sure it was teasing me because I could almost hear it laughing. Just as I was about to swing my bag at it and run/cry, it flew away. Surely it went to plot revenge or at least report to the rest of the wasp gang. Since there was only one (as far as I could tell), it must have been a spy. The gang of wasps will probably try to eat my baby now that they know I'm pregnant.

Wasps, if you're reading this, you've got less than three weeks for your attack, then you'll have to find someone else to torment because we're moving.

Wasp Gang

Let me just start out by saying that I am afraid of wasps. Wait, no, not afraid- terrified. A wasp coming anywhere near me induces a great amount of anxiety. Now that you have this bit of information, let me go on to say that a gang of wasps has chosen our trailer as their hang out. Yes, I know that the correct grammatical term for a group of wasps is a swarm, but I say “gang” for a reason…

So, I came home for my lunch break and left my windows down in the car (important later). As I was stepping up to the front door, I noticed a wasp between our screen/glass door and the other door. I thought, If I open the screen door, it’s going to swing back and bump me, make the wasp mad, and the wasp will sting me.

Me- 0: Wasp Gang: 1

So I stood there for a minute trying to decide what to do. I opened the door and tried to get the wasp to fly away. It wouldn’t. The thing just clung on. I tried tapping on the screen a little- no effect, blowing on the wasp- no effect. Then I realized that the wasp was actually caught between the glass and the screen! Ha-ha! I’d be able to get inside without being stung! I did.

Me- 1: Wasp Gang- 1

I got inside and shut the main door incase Waspie was able to escape. I sure didn’t want this guy inside with me! I ate some lunch, got some stuff together, wrapped a birthday present to mail to Keli, and had to go back out. But wait, I thought, the wasp might be between the doors now and either sting me or fly inside to sting me later! Luckily, the screen door didn’t shut all the way and Waspie was able to escape and fly away. Yippee!

Me- 2: Wasp Gang- 1

I went outside, locked the door, unlocked the door, went back inside, grabbed my phone went back outside, and locked the door again. Then I saw it; a wasp was flying around the driver-side door. Noooooooooo! I had to devise a plan.

Me-2: Wasp Gang- 2

I put my stuff in the passenger-side and walked around to the driver-side. I studied the wasp’s flying pattern. Then I ducked and weaved, jumped into the car, started the ignition and rolled up all the windows. Ha-ha, Waspo, you can’t get me!

Me-3: Wasp Gang-2

As soon as I rolled up the window, Waspo clung on. I tried rolling it up and down ever so slightly to get him to fly off. Eventually he did.

Me-4: Wasp Gang-2

That’s when I checked my rearview window and saw… There was a wasp inside the car! Curses!

Me-4: Wasp Gang- 3

Of course I started flipping out. I slammed on the breaks (still in the trailer park with no one behind me, mind you). I could hear the little guy buzzing and slamming up against the rear window, so I rolled all the windows down and kept checking the rearview mirror. Finally, I saw him fly out. Phew, safe again.

Me-5: Wasp Gang- 3

So then I was driving along on my way to the Post Office, when all of a sudden, just like out of a movie, I checked my rearview mirror just before turning onto the road leading to the Post Office and I saw this wasp fly straight up and hover where he was exactly in the center of my mirror. Of course I squealed like a little girl. I could hear his wings flapping right behind me as he was flying around my head!

Me- 5: Wasp Gang- 5 (This wasp gets a bonus for waiting until just the right moment to get maximum fear out of me, plus he reminds me the boss in a video game.)

I quickly rolled down all the windows, but this guy wasn’t going anywhere! I got to the Post Office as fast as I could, grabbed my stuff and got away from the car as fast as I could hoping that he’d fly out while I was inside.

Me-5: Wasp Gang- 6

After mailing Keli’s present and buying stamps, I went back to the car. I saw no sign of the wasp and got back in the car.

Me-6: Wasp Gang- 6

I made it back to work with no sign of the Boss Wasp. I thought I’d leave the windows down just incase, though. When I was getting out of the car, I heard it- the sound of Boss Wasp’s wings flapping against glass. I bolted out of there.

Me-5: Wasp Gang- 7 (I lost my point from the last round.)

There you have it. A gang of wasps is terrorizing me! Now feel free to laugh at my expense.

Try Not to Bug Out...

My intention isn't to make my blog full of pictures of bugs, but when Chase & I came home from watching The Illusionist, we found this praying mantis on our deck. So, we took some pictures of it. There was this tiny red bug that kept crawling on her and bothering her. We were hoping she would eat it or something, but she didn't. Also, her abdomen was moving a lot, so we thought maybe she'd give birth or lay eggs or whatever mantises do. But she didn't. So we just took some cool and some silly pictures with her.

When we went to see The Illusionist, we mistook it for The Prestige. Both are movies about magicians and are set in approximately the same time period. During the half-hour of commercials/previews, we saw a preview for The Prestige and were like, "Why are they showing a preview for the movie we're seeing?" But then at the end of the preview, I saw that it was a different move that hasn't come out yet. So, while it wasn't the movie we wanted to see, The Illusionist is pretty good. We both liked it.

And now for some silly pictures with the praying mantis:
