Too Early

It's ten-til-four in the morning, Simon and I have been up for an hour and I'm afraid he is up for the day. Why? He decided that 6:30 pm was the best time to go to bed. I thought he was just going to take a little nap since he's been going to bed 8-ish every night. Well, he sure showed me! While it was nice not to have to deal with the bedtime battle that's been becoming more commonplace, and it was great to watch our shows uninterrupted (what's up with Heroes getting lamer by the episode?!), there are major drawbacks to his early bedtime.

First, getting up this early isn't so pleasant. Simon's ready to play, but I'm not. (He's rolling around and chatting on his play mat now.) And there's nothing good on TV, at least not on basic cable. And I'm going to be way tired all day.

Second, I didn't have the chance to put him in Huggies before bed. Name brand diapers are becoming a must overnight. We've been using some Target diapers during the day, and they've been more than sufficient; but they leak overnight, especially since Simon rolls onto his belly in his sleep. Yup, he leaked.

Third, it's very likely that he's going to want to go to bed even earlier tonight...

Well, at least he's being cute and not crying. It could be much much worse. I'll leave you with pictures of Simon after eating some carrots (he's not so much a fan, by the way).

(Simon's wearing a Superbib in these pictures- we highly recommend!)

UPDATE: It's twenty-til-five and Simon's back in bed, so that's where I'm going now, too! Hooray!

Baby Buddies

Simon and Jonny are buddies. They play together at church, which mostly means they stick their hands in each other's mouths, poke each other, stare at each other, squeal and/or cry, and Simon learns new sounds from Jonny (since Jonny is three months older).

Something is always in their mouths, be it toy, blankie, hand or foot.

See?

Play, Jonny, play!

Tagged

I've been tagged by Amber to:

1. Choose the 4th picture folder on my computer
2. Choose the 4th picture
3. Explain the picture
4. Tag 4 other bloggers

So here's the picture:

And surprise, it's Simon! Yeah, it's a little blurry, but a lot cute. This one is from mid-October and he had just finished eating his morning oatmeal. Si was so cute, happy and messy that I just had to have a picture!

I guess I'll tag:

Thank You Interweb

Dear Interweb,
Thank you for always being there. Whenever I have a question about what actor played a role in a particular movie or show, you're there. If I want to know how to tell if an egg has gone bad, you're there. When I want to see what developmental milestones my baby will reach next, you're there. If I want to know what my current and former friends and acquaintances are up to without actually talking to them, you're there.

You've always got blogs, blogs and more blogs to read, videos to watch, plenty of places to shop, and I can even use my credit card rewards through you! For these things, I also thank you.

Mostly, I'd like to thank you for the strange things I find using you. Today, I came across this:

Thanks again, Interweb, you've yet to fail me!

'Tis the Spookin' Season

We had quite the busy week! Last weekend our good friends Caleb and Keli were in town, so we got to spend some time with them and Si got to hang out with his girlfriend. We also had a concert and photography exhibition to attend, and we took Si to his very first Halloween party!

Si & Nella getting to know each other a little better... Notice Si has his arm around Nella in the top two pictures. I think she likes it.

Si also got to meet Nella's cousin Marley. Baby interactions are always so interesting!

Our Halloween costumes all went together:

Si was a monkey, Chase a zookeeper and I was an animal rights activist. I made the monkey costume. Chase made my poster; it says "ZOOS ARE PRISONS" and has a picture of Simon in his monkey costume behind bars. And I made a graphic and did an iron-on transfer for my shirt. Here's the graphic:

We made zombiecakes for the party, too!

Devilsfood cupcakes with iced graham cracker tombstones, crumbled graham crackers for dirt and paper zombies stuck in.

As you can see, Simon was worn out! Just look at that sleepy monkey!

And just because he's too cute, here's one more picture of Baby Si from this week:
