Can You Handle the Excitement?

Things are very exciting right now. Here are a few reasons why:

1. The new season of Heroes has just begun.

2. I discovered lactose free mint chip ice cream at Kroger's. Mint chip is my absolute favorite ice cream flavor. Words cannot express how excited I was to eat some last night.

3. The new season of The Office begins on Thursday, and we're going to a The Office party.

It seems like I'm missing something... Oh yeah...

4. We're having a baby!

Bloody Anne Bonney

Avast me hearteys, it be International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Mad Bess Bonney took this pirate name quiz, and arrrrgh, I did too!

My pirate name is:

Bloody Anne Bonney
Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

You know what else is cool about tomorrow? It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day! So get ready to shiver your timbers and arrggh your mateys!

Oriental Trading

Does anyone else like to look through the Oriental Trading magazines? I do and have for as long as I can remember. I think we started getting them after my mom ordered some stuff for a Halloween block party. I always knew it was a bunch of junk, but I always enjoy looking at it.

I mean, look at this:
Who actually buys this? It's absolutely ridiculous! Really, I'm serious and want to know who buys this! I've seen this costume in more than one edition of the magazine, so someone must be buying them!

Blast from the Past

Okay, I guess I've left you hanging long enough. Something cRaZy happened last week. (You know it's really crazy if the word crazy is typed in both lowercase and capital letters!)

Last Tuesday I was at work on my way back from the bathroom when I saw a young lady sitting in the church office. Hmmm, I thought, That looks a lot like Liz, but it can't really be her since she lives in Kentucky. Liz was my roommate my senior year of college at Morehead State. We were both on the speech team, too.

So, I walked into the office and it was Liz!

Liz is out here getting her PhD in math and had been looking for a church. She asked a couple friends about churches, and one of her friends' friends suggested Lakeland. Liz then looked Lakeland up online where she saw my picture and that I'm the church office manager. She decided that instead of just coming on Sunday, she'd stop by and surprise me in the office.

I think I stared at her in disbelief for about a half hour while we talked.

Told you it was cRaZy.

Is There an Old Orleans?

No, Chase and I are not still stuck in the Atlanta airport... we made it back from New Orleans safely with all our luggage Monday night. Here's a bit from our trip:

Just me tweakin' the butcher's 'stache!

Chase is bursting with excitement!

It is mandatory to wear a Jackson t-shirt on Jackson Square if you own one.

Chase is happier now because we're getting some local flavor in both food and environment at Jaques-Imo's.

I think the Jaques-Imo's head chef graduated from Crazy Go Nuts University.

This was before we saw this rat run super fast right past us and into the street straight under the wheel of an SUV. You might be thinking Ewww, gross! but you would be wrong because it was hilarious. At least ten people said Oooohhh! at the same time and then laughed.

I'm doing my best to look emo in the cemetery, that's why this one is in black & white.

And here's a swamp. If you look closely, you won't see any gators. But we did see three in a different section of swamp as well as giant grasshoppers, huge spiders and a family from Holland.

There ya have it, our New Orleans vacation. We've had some excitement since we've been back, too. If you're lucky, I'll post a bit about it. Here is a teaser:

Airport Sleeping

After a delayed flight, a half hour or so on the tarmac causing a missed flight, two hours in line to get a new flight, some meal vouchers, spending the night in the Atlanta airport and actually getting to ride the plane when flying stand-by, Chase and I are in New Orleans. (All those people in line missed their flights because of delays, too. That picture was taken a little before midnight.)

Here I am being sad that we missed our flight and had to stand in line:

Well, worse things could have happened. We're ready to get a little rest and start our vacation.
