Abraham Lincoln's Birthday Party 2007

Okay, I know you've been waiting in anticipation for the pictures from the 3rd annual Abraham Lincoln's Birthday Party (Shelley). So here they are:

Emily and me- the Party Planning Committee (or is it the Committee to Plan Parties?)

I don't understand why so many people had so much trouble with being able to tell what this is! It's Abraham Lincoln's hat made out of cupcakes!

The decorating committee even decorated the bathroom. Now that's dedication!

More decorating

Michelle being spun around and almost pinning the beard on Abe. Maybe next time, Michelle!

Kyle, that's Ashley's back, not Abe's face!

The big winners! (left to right)
Aaron- trivia champ 2nd year in a row
Ashley- pinned the beard on Abe, and her t-shirt says so!
James- 3rd year in a row pinning the beard the farthest from Abe's face
Kyle- trivia runner-up, tied for pinning the beard farthest from Abe's face, and he looks the most Lincoln-esque with his own beard!

Stuff + Cats = Awesome

Don't get too used to having this many posts from me. I didn't have too much to do today, was on one of my favorite web sites, saw this and thought I'd share:

Go to Stuff on My Cat! Stuff + Cats = Awesome!

My Workplace

For all of you who are wondering what my brand new office looks like, have I got a treat for you! Here be a picture:

Yup. That's it. As of Monday, I no longer work in a radio station broadcasting out of the warehouse of a mobile home sales lot; I work at a radio station with its very own building! My desk is made of two doors that each got a corner cut off and some trim put on. All my compy wires go through the holes where the doorknobs go. The doors/desk is on top of file cabinets. One of those computers is for prodution only (no Interwebnet) and the other is for everything else. Swanky, no?

In other news, I finally got to sleep sometime around 2:00 a.m. Amazingly, I'm not too tired today, though! I expect it'll hit me later.

*Update: For more exciting pictures of where I work, click here.*

I Guess I Can Sleep When I'm Dead

Chase and I have been sick these past few days. Now that I seem to be getting better, I haven't been able to sleep, which is why I'm up at 1:00 in the morning typing this blog. I didn't sleep well last night and thought that surely I'd be so tired by bedtime that I'd just fall asleep. Nope. I laid in bed for almost an hour before getting up to watch some Conan O'Brien. Well, I've been out of the Cone Zone for a half hour now, but I still don't feel sleepy. Tired? Yes. Sleepy? No. Any suggestions for getting to sleep?

Happy Birthday Abe!

It's Abraham Lincoln's birthday today! To celebrate, here are some fun Abe facts:

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a one-room log cabin.

Lincoln began his political career in 1832, at age 23, with a campaign for the Illinois General Assembly as a member of the Whig Party.

On November 4, 1842, at the age of 33, Lincoln married Mary Todd.

Abe had four sons- Robert Todd Lincoln, Edward Baker Lincoln, William Wallace Lincoln, and Thomas "Tad" Lincoln. (Only Robert lived into adulthood.)

Lincoln was involved in more than 5,100 cases in Illinois alone during a 23-year legal practice.

Lincoln did not campaign or give speeches. His campaign was handled by the state and county Republican organizations.

Originally, John Wilkes Booth had formulated a plan to kidnap Lincoln in exchange for the release of Confederate prisoners. In April of 1865 he changed to a plan to assassination.

(My favorite:) Often depicted wearing a tall black stovepipe hat, 16th president of the United States Abraham Lincoln carried letters, bills, and notes in his hat.

The annual Abraham Lincoln's Birthday Party has not taken place yet; hence, no pictures. The party is planned for next Sunday afternoon!

Down to One

Down to one? One what?

Guess.

One roll of toilet paper?

Nope.

One slice of bread?

No.

One clean pair of underwear?

Nope, give up?

Yes.

It's one car. Silver Taurus (with the new-used transmission bought on our honeymoon and the chipping paint on the rear bumper) isn't, ummm, working, but it does have current tags on the license plate now!
