Confused yet?

Me is mentally drained… Spending an hour with my boss trying to figure out where things are, what’s being used in rotation, where these things should be, what they should be titled, how they should be titled, and where they all should go… And by “things” I mean “liners.” But they’re not all “liners.” There are liners with music/sound effects that are between 6 and 8 seconds called “jingles,” then there are liners that are dry (with no music/sound effects) between 5 and 7 seconds called “sweepers,” and then there are liners that are 3 to 4 seconds that are dry called “miracalls.” And then we have what we actually call “liners” that are pretty much anything between 3 and 29 seconds with or without music/sound effects. “Liners” that are 30 seconds long are called “drop-ins.” If that’s not confusing enough, there is a library group called “liners” that doesn’t actually contain any “liners” but has our legal ID, jingles, sweepers, miracalls, and testimonials… Then we have the “sweeps” category that does not contain sweepers, but has the liners, drop-ins, and some other junk.

Confused yet? I’ve been messing with this stuff for almost a year and a half now, and I still don’t totally get it. We are in the process of revamping the whole system; so in order to make it all make sense, we first have to make sense of what it is that we will make into sense… Bleh… Maybe it will be all straightened out by the time I leave this job so that the next person will have an easier time with it… But then my notes from when I was training will no longer work… Oh well…
It’s Classic Wednesday, so I’m listening to some Contemporary Christian Music from the late 70’s to early 90’s… And it’s Christmas music time… I just heard a 70’s rock version of Little Drummer Boy.

Thriller...

So I was at the parents' house for Thanksgiving and found some photos from the early to mid '80s. As you can tell by my new display pic, like most children in the '80s, I was a major Michael Jackson fan. Apparently I wore that shirt whenever the opportunity arose.

So now, for your enjoyment, some of the pictures I found:

I was a Michael Jackson fiend!

Merry Christmas from the late '80s!

My mom gave me the phone whenever telemarketers called...

And there you have 'em...

Moosen (part deux)

Remember when I said that maybe I dressed up in a moose costume for Keli's photo project?

Apple Fish

Why is there a fish on the sticker for Red Delicious Apples?

It's only a flesh wound...

So the 12-year-olds were pretty fun. They seemed interested in what was going on... especially in the sound effect CD set I have... More specifically, the boys were interested in the machine gun and bomb sound effects. The only negative thing was the fact that I accidentally sliced off a chunk of skin on my left index finger when I was moving a stool out of the way in the production room. It didn't really hurt at the time, but it bled a lot and I was all "Oh crap, I'm bleeding!" (I didn't say that out loud; it was probably more of an "Awww!" but not in an "Awww! What an adorable kitty!" sort of way... It was more of an "Awww! I'm bleeding!" like all "Grrr" and stuff.... yeah.) After bleeding all over the kids, I put a Band-Aid on. Just kidding, no Band-Aid was involved! Er... I mean... no bleeding all over kids was involved... yeah...

Well, now my finger hurts. I want to take the Band-Aid off because it's driving me nuts. But looking at my wound makes me all queasy and stuff... that, and I don't want to get it infected.

On a brighter side, Chase and I don't have anywhere that we have to be or anything that we have to do tonight! Yippee! The plan is to make lasagna. The question is do we find a recipe and make it from scratch or do we just get it all ready-to-make out of a box?

Oh! And here is a picture of my brother-in-law doing the Kentucky State Police Academy secret handshake.

To be 12...

In approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, a bunch of 12-year-olds will be here at the radio station on a field trip. They will be reading and possibly editing liners. Hopefully I'll have enough to keep them occupied...

My last experience with 12-year-olds wasn't all that great. I went with a few BCMers a couple weeks ago on a revival team type thing to this small church for a youth night deal. Those kids, mostly girls (and by "mostly" I mean "all but one"), had absolutely no desire to engage in conversation with me. It was like pulling teeth. This one girl would give me one or two word answers whenever I asked questions. I ended up just talking with the chaperones, which turned out to be quite pleasant.

Apparently these 12-year-olds are pumped to come here, so hopefully I won't have any problems.
